We know how many questions can come up throughout the planning process, so we’ve compiled answers to some of our most frequently asked questions to help guide you along the way.

Book & Availability

The reservation fee is $4,000 per timeframe.

Payment is due in full at the time of booking and is made through a secure º£½ÇÖ±²¥ payment portal. Credit cards are accepted with no additional fees.

There are no additional chapel fees, and we do not offer an alumni discount. If you choose to reserve multiple timeframes, the fee applies to each timeframe booked.

Yes, you may reserve multiple timeframes if you would like additional time or a ceremony that spans across standard time blocks.

Fall dates (September through November) fall within º£½ÇÖ±²¥ football season. Because weddings cannot be held on home game Saturdays, availability cannot be fully confirmed until the official football schedule is released, typically in late January.

In the meantime, we offer a complimentary hold system. You may place a hold on your preferred date while awaiting the schedule. Once released, you can either confirm or release your date depending on whether a home game is scheduled.

Ceremony Details

Yes, you may bring your own officiant. Perkins Chapel does not provide or assign an officiant.

The chapel serves as the venue only and is not part of the marriage license process. No officiant documentation is required.

You may choose your ceremony start time within your reserved timeframe.

Guests typically begin arriving 30 to 40 minutes before the ceremony, so we recommend planning accordingly with your planner to allow for guest arrival, vendor setup, and a smooth start.

All music performed in the chapel must be live. A professional organist is included with your reservation.

You may bring additional musicians or vocalists, and our Music Coordinator, Benjamin Kolodziej, can assist with sourcing if needed.

All music selections must be approved in advance and submitted through the or by email at bkolodzi@smu.edu.

Floral décor is allowed within the following guidelines:

  • Two floral arrangements on the lower chancel (two pedestal stands are provided for use)
  • Pew markers are allowed
  • One arrangement may be placed on the entry welcome table
  • Flower petals may be dropped down the center aisle

The following are not permitted:

  • Florals or décor placed on the floor of the center aisle or lower chancel (outside of petal drops)
  • Tossing of confetti, rice, birdseed, loose petals, or similar items outside the chapel

Perkins Chapel does not provide additional décor items such as easels, signage, candelabras, or kneelers.

The chapel does provide two pedestal stands for floral arrangements and chairs for couples during Catholic ceremonies.

Planning & Logistics

Guest parking is available along both sides of Bishop Boulevard, which is reserved for wedding guests during your reservation timeframe.

Yes, º£½ÇÖ±²¥ offers several beautiful on-campus reception venues for your celebration.

Access to the chapel begins at the start of your reserved timeframe.

For example, if you reserve the 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM timeframe, you and your vendors may enter at 6:00 PM. Early access is not permitted.

All setup, ceremony, and cleanup must be completed within your reserved timeframe.

Yes, a Perkins Chapel building facilitator will be on-site during your wedding.

They assist with building operations and A/V and ensure everything runs smoothly within the space. They do not serve as a wedding planner or coordinator.

Yes, the chapel includes separate private spaces for both the bride and groom to prepare and freshen up before the ceremony.

You may put your dress on in the space, but we recommend arriving with hair and makeup already completed.

Rehearsal & Photography

Rehearsals are held on Friday prior to your wedding and are scheduled for one hour.

You or your planner will lead the rehearsal and direct the wedding party. A chapel facilitator will be present to answer questions about the space, but they do not run the rehearsal.

No music or microphones are used during rehearsal. Parking is available along Bishop Boulevard. Décor and personal items may not be left overnight.

Rehearsal times are assigned based on the order in which weddings are booked. Your scheduled time will be listed in your contract and cannot be changed.

Bridal portraits do not need to be scheduled.

Portraits are permitted outside the chapel at any time. Interior photography is only allowed during your reserved wedding timeframe.

Vendors & Requirements

Yes, you are welcome to use any vendors you prefer.

If a vendor has not previously worked at Perkins Chapel, they will need to complete a vendor agreement prior to the event via the policies page.

Yes, both the couple and all vendors are required to have event insurance.

If your vendors do not carry their own insurance, they can be added to your policy. Insurance can be obtained through a provider of your choice or through .

When using TULIP, a copy of your policy is automatically sent to º£½ÇÖ±²¥ Risk Management.
